ScanScribe™ Image Editor
introductory video

ScanScribe is a document image editor that makes it easy to extract, manipulate, and combine sketches, handwritten notes, whiteboard images, screen snapshots, and scanned documents.

Through ScanScribe, PARC researchers are advancing these ideas:

  • document image editing — as opposed to editing formatted text (e.g. MS Word) or structured graphics (e.g. PowerPoint);

  • support for rough documents — work with images that are less structured than formatted text, such as handwritten notes, drawings, and figures; and

  • intelligent editing tools — it is easy to select just the content you want, based on a novel user interface plus automatic analysis of perceptually salient objects and groupings.
